How do I change the look and feel of my chart?

There are many options within the Chart ToolBox (the right pane of your studio) that will allow you to create a richly formatted chart (view the ChartChannel for examples and inspiration). On top of the many formatting options that are available, iCharts allows you to add images, audio, and text to your chart (see the Insert menu).

There are 5 main categories within the ToolBox: Chart Type, Data Series, Templates, Format, and Options.

  1. Chart Type: There are over 14 different chart types to choose from.
  2. Data Series: The Data Series tab will list all of the data series within your data. You may use the pop-ups that appear when you float over the data series to guide your data into the correct axis (1) or simply drag and drop your data series into the axis of your choice on the chart itself (2). How do I determine which data series goes on the category or measure axis?

  3. Templates: There are a number of colorful templates to choose from. This means that you can bypass manually formatting your chart by appying a template that already has the right positioning, font choices and color schemes. To use a template, click on the desired thumbnail for your options. If you have an upgraded account, you can create your own templates for your future use.

  1. Format: Customize your chart by selecting the many features available in the Format tab of your Chart ToolBox. Click on an element you want to change on your chart. Doing so will automatically open the relevant formatting options. You can also open the Format tab and select the category you'd like to change.

You may also incorporate text boxes and data comments, images and audio to your chart by referring to the Comments menu and the Images and Logos menu of your studio.

  1. Options: The Options tab will be your gateway to modifying a selection of interactivity featuresThere are a number of interactive features that are inherent to all iCharts charts. The main feature you have control over is whether or not your slider displays on your chart. You can add or remove the data range slider from your chart. If you choose to use the slider, you may set it to a number of options which may be suitable to you if you intend to continuously update your data over time.

You may also determine to add or remove the slider by simply "unpinning" it from the chart in the studio.
